Allochiria 3

(English version below)

De unde aceasta afinitate pentru muzica post-metal? Cu siguranta gasim destule influente Amenra sau Cult Of Luna in muzica voastra.

Ne place intunericul, atmosfera, puterea acestui gen muzical.

Allochiria 2

In acest context, omenirea evolueaza sau tocmai opusul?

Asta e intrebarea!

Exact, noi absorbim toata aceasta ura si indiferenta pe care o vedem in fiecare zi si o canalizam in studio.

In afara de Septicflesh, Rotting Christ, Suicidal Angels..

Atena are concerte aproape in fiecare seara, iar oamenii sustin activ scena.

Why this afinity for post-metal? There's surely enough Amenra and Cult Of Luna in your music.

Well we like the darkness, the atmosphere and the power that most of the bands of this genre
have in their music. That does not mean we just woke up one day and said 'Hey, lets play like these guys!', we have passed from many stages before that and will pass from many more after that.

So was the female fronted scenario a planned thing?

No, not at all, we started with male vocals then continued instrumental. After that we decided we need vocals and while searching for a vocalist, Irene showed up.

In terms of lyrics, the content deals with some heavy stuff regarding human behaivor, I was actually intrigued to see that Omonoia deals with a daily routine in a urban enviorment, people doing the same thing daily, waking up, working, going home, kind of a programmed routine. Care to share your oppinion on this annd on Omonia?

That's the concept of the album. Omonoia means peace. Peace is nowhere to be found around the city, where it's the only place where one feels more alone than ever, despite living around thousands of others. Omonoia is a square in the center of Athens where hope has died long ago. There are junkies slowly dying each day, businessmen going to work ingoring them. We have witnessed ourselves people trying to commit suicide there quite a few times too. In general everyone does what he is supposed to be doing without caring what's happeing next to him.

Allochiria 4

So, in this context, is mankind evolving or just the opposite?

Well that's the question. Have we become heartless beings that do not care about anyone else, that are feeling lonely and don't enjoy life at all? Is this evolution or we just began to be slaves of our own creations and ideas (society, technology, money, drugs) ?

So why did humanity go to a point where everything is so 'false', reffering to your song of course.

This song is the conclusion of the album, it is the last one of the thoughts this album drives us through. Humanity is false, because people are dying next to us everyday and no one tries to help, no one cares to help. Humanity is false, because only a few people can actually choose how to live. We keep creating harmfull products just for money, we have lost our heart and spirit. All of us. We think that we are better than the person next door, next block, next city. Like the word spins around us. If that's not inhuman then what is?

And we did get to this point steady and slowly as people began to live packed in appartments, stopped saying hello to their neighbour, did not care to help people around them, living in hostility and fear, in their little routine, with no actual life, just to avoid feeling humane.

In contrast with the general psychological state of your music, do you consider yourselves as happy people in your everyday life? Is your music an enviorment where you can channel out all those negative energies?

Exactly, we absorb all the hate and indifference we face every day and we channel it out in the studio. It would be difficult withoud these weekly bursts of unhappines and negativity. I don't know if we would be happy without these bursts. And of course when playing live we go back in the state of mind we had when creating these songs.

Now you're going on a european tour, I'm guessing this is a fully DIY project. How complicated is it nowadays to book shows around europe, especially for underground bands, when there are hundreds of bands touring?

The most difficult part was to try to find contacts around Europe, from scratch. We have been planning this tour since September, so with consistency and patience we finally did it and booked all the dates we wanted. It was not easy I have to say, e-mails never getting answered, "I don't even live there" answers, etc. But we 're pretty sure that the next one will be a lot easier, and hope to visit countries we couldn't do now.

What's the key to success when it comes to a DIY tour?

Good communication! Having capable contacts from the cities you visit that are willing to help. They know the place where you want to have a gig, know if people there are going to support the show and can offer you some gas money so you can continue touring.

It's pretty interesting that you're having three shows in Romania, not a common thing I must say. Guessing the show at Rockstadt Extreme Fest was very well received by the crowd.

Indeed, when we came in Rasnov, we could not even imagine how well our show would be received. People were really excited, we kept receiving messages to visit Romania again, so we decided to start planing the tour. We could say that, if it wasn't for Romanian people, we would not decide to tour in the first place. At least not this time. That's why we have three shows in Romania.

It's actually really cool that every year we have a greek band at the festival, trust me when I say it wasn't a planned thing.

Come on, we have many great bands and Romania, Bulgaria and Italy are the most easily accessible countries from Greece, which is a bit isolated. Plus the fest rocks!

May I ask what do you guys do in your everyday life and jobs?

Stavros is a computer programmer, Irene works in a printing shop and studying computers, Stef is studying engineering, Ted is studying sound engineering and computers and John is another unemployed Greek guy.

How's the underground scene in Greece? I mean, besides your usual Septicflesh, Rotting Christ, Suicidal Angels.

The underground scene in Greece is exceptionally good, we have many great bands with unbelievably good music, from post-rock to crust, from powerviolence to post-punk. Almost every night there is a good gig here in Athens, and people are actively supporting the scene.

Thanks alot for taking the time to answer these questions. The last words are yours, looking forward to seeing you again.

Thank you for this great interview! Can't wait to come back to Romania :)
